So last night I got to witness the incredibly talent and may I add, beautiful singer – Bryson Tiller.
Firstly, if you know the hustle that went into securing tickets for this show then you’ll understand the love for this guy is real. A group chat titled ‘TRAPSOUL’ was made real quick, and I mean literally before half the members even knew there was a European leg to the tour we were sending messages and creating plans.
The original plan to was to try get tickets for Bryson’s Amsterdam date (2nd April), so trying to be organised we quickly booked flights 1st – 4th April. Now, usually we would try get tickets to an event and then book flights but for some reason we chose to do it the other way round considering we knew how popular Bryson was were thought the flight prices might increase. However, we didn’t realise how popular he was as we struggled to get tickets for Amsterdam.
I should also point out, it we were trying to secure 6 tickets. This is pretty hard considering on average 6-8 tickets usually the max. So we noticed where we went wrong and devised a plan. After announcing a 2nd London date for the 28th March we decided to each attempt to get at least 4 tickets. Therefore is 2 of us were successful in getting 4 we knew we were all guaranteed to go and 2 could be sold to others. Luckily 3 of us managed to get 4 so that was 12 tickets in less than 10mins! I gave my surplus to my brother who took 2 of his friends.
On the day of the actual concert I had work, however managed to leave early and my brother was in the queue so luck was definitely on my side and helped to securing my place at the front. The opening acts were ‘THEY’ who seemed to have enormous amounts of energy which I always respect from opening acts especially they aren’t relatively known. They had the crowd going and participating in everything so props to them!
Bryson came out so chilled, which I couldn’t have expected less. My favourite performances were ‘Sorry Not Sorry’, ‘The Sequence’, and ‘Self Righteousness’ obviously the favourite 2 ‘Dont’ and ‘Exchange’ although I expected Exchange to be performed much later in the set it was nice to have it quite early on (even as I write this I want to just basically list his whole tracklist lol)
As cliche as it sounds you could tell that he belongs to be in stage. I love being able to connect with artists and thats one thing I love about Tiller’s music, is how captivating it is. Listening to the whole crowd sing along to a 23 year old’s debut album is nuts and I can’t wait to continue watch him grow as an artist and the day he’s selling out arena’s so I can think back to the 28th March when he says, “thanks to y’all who been rocking with me since KOKO days and before”
If you’ve been lucky enough to see Bryson Tiller live, leave a comment below of what city you saw him in and your favourite song/performance from the album!
