My travel Goals for 2023

After the past few years of the on-and-off disruption to the travel industry due to COVID-19, it feels like travel is finally back to normal. A moment I’ve personally been waiting for, for so long!

Last year took me by surprise and outside of my comfort zone, which has only allowed for growth and new travel experiences. As a result, I went on two solo travels: Madeira and Cape Verde and was able to tick off some bucket list moments. Though I’m grateful for the fact that I’m in a position to even travel, I’m ready to get back into travelling as a group for 2023, particularly after the growth and experiences from 2022. One thing I’ve learned is that no matter how far ahead you plan, you won’t always be in control of everything and it reminded me of the spontaneous trips I used to have with my friends.

Whenever I’m asked how I decide my destinations I never have the answer. Some of my holidays are like Russian roulette and since Brexit, even European trips will now have to factor in more planning and stricter rules, but despite all of that I’m trying to tick as many places off my bucket list as soon as possible.

My travel aspirations this year include a mixture of Europe, the Middle East and the Caribbean, but beyond the destinations, some of my travel goals include experiences:

  • Visiting new cities and experiences
  •  Another solo trip (read about my solo trip to Madeira and Cape Verde)
  •  Watch the sunset/sunrise
  •  Try at least two local foods in every location
  •  Weekend breaks

Whether on a long-haul or short-haul trip, it’s easy to get caught up in trying to capture the perfect moment. My aim with these travel ‘goals’ is to add something different for each trip and enrichen my experiences.

Some of my favourite places to search are:

  • Skyscanner / Kayak
  •  Expedia / Loveholidays – best suited for package holidays
  •  Booking.com* – free cancellation while you search for the best accommodation

What are your travel goals for 2023?
